It is common for kids with ENT problems to have a cold around the time of surgery. If you are concerned, see your local doctor and start Augmentin or Rulide so that the cough and sinusitis is a little better before the anaesthetic. Your anaesthetist will decide if your child is too ill for surgery – temperature over 37.7oC or very wet cough or asthma exacerbation.
Avoid all blood thinning agents for two weeks before surgery:
- Nurofen, Ibuprofen, Fenpaed
- Fish oil
This will reduce the risk of bleeding.
